Archiving emails in Outlook




  1. Select the emails you want to archive in your inbox. You can select multiple emails at the same time.
  2. Click on "Archive" next to the Delete button.
  3. The emails will then be moved into your Archive folder in the left navigation section.
  4. You can also move entire folders. To do so, select them and drag and drop them over the Archive folder in the left navigation section.

Older Outlook versions

If you are using the older Outlook versions, the recommended method to archive is:
  1. Click on File > Info > Tools > Clean up old items
  2. Click the Archive this folder and all subfolders option, and choose the folder you want to archive. To archive all emails select the top folder.
  3. Enter the date to select the archive date range.
Your emails will then be archived in a .pst file, and  can be accessed from your left navigation section in Outlook.

Idea
It is recommended to not only rely on your emails on the remote server. It is therefore advised to create Auto Backup rules to keep your important emails save and backed up for future reference.
